On the island, getting around is easy! Only 3.5 miles long, and one mile wide, the entire island is walkable. However, despite its small size, you will still want some form of transportation. Make sure to book yourself a golf cart for the duration of your stay!

By Air
In order to get to Harbour Island you must fly into North Eleuthera Airport (ELH). There are direct flights from Charlotte, Atlanta, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Nassau. Flights are limited, and can become very expensive, so make sure you book them as soon as possible!
$500 Roundtrip is considered a great deal for Harbour Island. However, if you are only seeing flights for $1000+, you should consider flying through Nassau (which is often cheaper) and taking one of the Bahamian airlines to Harbour Island from there ($100 each way) . You typically won’t see these airlines on google, but they are perfectly safe and we take them all the time, especially when coming from the east coast!

If you decide to fly through Nassau, you will have to go through customs in Nassau and switch terminals. It’s not a huge airport, so this isn’t difficult, but make sure you leave yourself enough time between flights to go through customs, check in, and go through security again. (1.5-2 hrs)
By Sea
Once you arrive at North Eleuthera Airport, you will then take a 3 minute taxi ride down to Government Dock. There will be taxis waiting outside the airport for you, and all you have to do is tell them you’re going to Harbour Island and they will get you where you need to go. This taxi is $5 per person, or $10 dollars per person if traveling alone.
Cash only. US dollars are accepted!
Once at the dock, you will get on one of the water taxis waiting there for you for another 5 minute ride. Tell them you’re going to Harbour Island Government Dock ( most people on the boat will be going here as well). This taxi is also $5 per person
Pro-tip: It is customary to bring tip money for porters who help you with your bags, so make sure to have a few small bills handy!
If staying at the Landing, you will be able to walk to your hotel from the government dock. (1 block away!)
If staying elsewhere, ask a friend whose already on the island to pick you up, or take a taxi to your hotel/ house rental, where your golf cart should be waiting! (another $5-10 per person).
